Sir Donald Bradman Essay -- Sports Baseball Bradmand Essays
Sir Donald Bradman Sir Donald Bradman, who died at the age of 92, was the greatest cricketer of the 20th century and the greatest batsman ever lived. He was arguably the most famous athlete in the eyes of most Australians, as sports has played the major role in giving the young nation of Australia global standing, self-belief and a sense of identity. Sir Donald Bradman is an Australian sporting hero. His achievements on the cricket field from 1928 to 1948 are still among the world's best. The tragic boxer of Les Darcy and champion galloper Phar Lap played a part, making up a trinity of Australian sporting legends, but nothing could match the phenomenon of Bradman. His battling statistics are incredible, incomparably ahead of everyone else playing the game. He creases in major cricket for 338 times, but in 117 of those innings returned with a century. He was better than twice the ratios achieved by such greats such as Jack Hobbs, Len Hutton, Denis Compton. His first class average was 95.4, where his nearest rival is 71. Most famously, he went out at the Oval in his last ten innings needing only four to finish with an average of 100, and was bowled second by Eric Hollies, of Warkwickshire, for a duck. It was as though the cricket god had reclaimed the invulnerability they had given him. His final average is 99.94 remains so resonant in cricket history, that the Australian Broadcasting Commission uses it as its post office box number. Donald Bradman had embodied the Australian dream. He was a country boy, born in Cootamundra in rual New South Wales. Donald bradman was the blond, blue-eyed baby of the family, with other three older sisters and a brother. His father was a carpenter and farmer whose earnings was average. None of bradmanââ¬â¢s school friends lived there him, so in those solitary moments, he had invented a game that involved throwing a golf ball at the base of the family water tank and whacking it with a cricket stump. The ball fizzes off the tank at high speed at unpredictable angles. Donald left school at fourteen and didnââ¬â¢t started to play cricket seriously until he was eighteen. His headmaster had commented that he was a truthful, honest, industrious and unusually bright. He began work at a real estate agent in Bowral. In 1923-1924, he played no cricket at all and little in the following summer. Most of his free time was given to ten... ...cted and admired through out the world for not only her personal qualities and family values, died in September 1997, after 65 years of loving marriage. This had simplify for Sir Donald Bradman that the 'best partnership of his life' was over. Donald Bradman was knighted in Melbourne at 1949, and went into the role cricketing elder statesman. He's the only Australian ever knighted for services to the game of cricket. He gave up his stockbroking career and became a selector and administer, dealing firmly with the throwing crisis that convulsed the game at the end of 1950s. After being knighted in 1949, Sir Donald Bradman wanted a very private life. The Wisden panel in 2000 voted Sir Donald Bradman as the cricketer of the century, with unanimous hundred percent votes. He'll be long remembered for his sporting skill, gentle manner and good humour. His reputation as a cricketer has never been questioned. The memory of Don Bradman is revered like no other wherever the great game of cricket is played. He is no doubt a legendary sportsman, which will remains enigmatic in our heart forever. Climate Change And Global Warming - 920 Words
Climate change and global warming are terms often tossed around in common parlance by non-scientists in the western world as having a singular meaning: that the planet is warming up, that humans may (or may not) have caused it; that something must be done at once. Climate change is presented and discussed as a single phenomenon, disingenuous to its multifaceted nature. Complicated and sometimes seemingly random, climate change is both chaotic and complex, characterized by nonlinearity, feedback loops and emergent phenomena. Rind (1999) defines a complex system as one where there are ââ¬Å"multiple interactions between many different components.â⬠Earthââ¬â¢s climate is the same way: clouds, wind, precipitation, sunlight and geographyââ¬âeach affect climate, but each also affects the other, and so forthââ¬âinteractions that form an intricate latticework of mutual dependency. As a web of interconnected parts, climate can be characterized by several factors. It is chaotic, in the sense that it is composed of simple systems that exhibit complex behaviour, but it is also complex, in the sense that entirety of the system is complicated, but demonstrates readily identifiable behaviours. A changing climate is readily observable. For example, one can surmise that sea levels will rise as ice caps melt. The relationship between melting ice caps and rising sea levels is intuitive, and thus emergentââ¬âthe process by which it happens is inherently complex, yet out of complexity is born large observableShow MoreRelatedGlobal Warming And Climate Change974 Words à |à 4 Pagesabout global warming, whether it is true or false. Men and Childcare in America and the UAE Free Essay Example, 2000 words
The situations facing men entering childcare today are reminiscent of the situations faced when men entered nursing about 20 years ago. The stereotyping incidents have made it difficult for many more to join this critical sector as a way of giving back to the community. Instead, men prefer it as a second-chance job after a stint of unemployment. Despite these changing attitudes amongst the men in the US, the UAE has a very different picture. The country has provided equal opportunities for both males and females, though the gaps between them are still prevalent. Women have been relegated to homes, with child raring and childcare activities being left to them. Men, on the other hand, participate in other activities that are considered masculine, with childcare being viewed sceptically. Education in the Arab world and more so in the UAE has been almost entirely the responsibility of women (Hasso 21). Very few men are involved in the way the child grows, the fathers only interacting wi th their children after work. Therefore, women have to reconcile their professional responsibilities with their domestic responsibilities. Chinaââ¬â¢s New Nationalism Essay - 1552 Words
No one can deny from recent news that there has been a strong surge of Chinese nationalism, and that this nationalism has turned heads in the international community. The nationalism that the CCP has affected is taking on a life of its own. In its strategy of pragmatic nationalism, the CCP tried to blur the lines between love of country with love of the state and governing body. What has resulted is a whole new breed of nationalism that is very much independent of the Chinese Communist Party and in fact has caused the CCP great concern. This new form of nationalism is much more vibrant, passionate, virulent and uncontrollable than the government had intended with its post 1989 strategy of obtaining legitimacy through nationalism. Thisâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The ââ¬Å"I am Chineseâ⬠program was launched at Universities to make people proud of being Chinese and also, of the Communist Party that was portrayed as the governing body that has contributed greatly to the pe ople of China. One experience so far in China that left a strong impression on my mind was a visit to the Shaanxi museum of history. Our tour guide was a locally educated young woman in her twenties. As she took us through the different periods of Chinese history, at every exhibit showing some sort of tool or mechanistic contraption she would turn and say ââ¬Å"as you can see, the Chinese people are very smart!â⬠She also recounted a story in which she was very offended that an American made a comment that Chinese people are short, to which she replied ââ¬Å"yes, we are, but we have five thousand years of history and culture!â⬠Both the richness and vastness of Chinese history was a huge source of pride for her, as her slightly illogical response to the Americanââ¬â¢s comment shows. In retrospect, her age denotes that she grew up on the governmentââ¬â¢s campaign in the 1990s to educated students about Chinaââ¬â¢s greatness, to foster pride. At the same ti me however, Chinaââ¬â¢s battered history with the West since the Opium war of the mid 19th century was emphasized to demonstrate how Chinese has been constantly abused and mistreated by the imperialist powers. Having to realize that not everyone means what they say Is a hard Idea to fathom when youââ¬â¢re someone who means everything they say. This past summer I found out my boyfriend had been cheating on me. To me this was the hardest news to swallow, to think the person you trusted with everything, who was your backbone and your shelter In midst of the storm was not only thinking about you and saying, ââ¬Å"l love youâ⬠to only you but to someone else as well. He apologized of course and in the end decided that I was the best choice for him, he wanted to make things work and go forward in our relationship, but how do you begin to trust again? Where do you start? Is he sincere this time? So many questions running through my head so much hurt and pain still. From then on I have guarded my heart like the jewel it is and protected it from anyoneââ¬â¢s harm. This situation elicited the most change on me because never will I ever love the same. I take my life day by day now, planning a future with someone Is so clicheà © too me. Had to realize that forever really is not forever and that relationships are day by day, anything could happen tomorrow. People change every day, they meet new faces all the time I feel as if someone finds a person who fits your spot in there life and who plays the role better will become your replacement and you will become nothing but a memory, to some people what means everything to them today can, become nothing to them tomorrow and thatââ¬â¢s just how some people are. Reminiscing on the days when I thought people waited till they were 21 to drink. Couples waited until they were married to have sex, people didnââ¬â¢t do drugs. I thought you would always end up marrying your soul mate, I thought your friends were your friends and they would never leave your side, that everyone you said ââ¬Å"I love youâ⬠too would say it back, and that your love story will end up like the movies. Itââ¬â¢s Just crazy how you grow up with all this love and hope in your heart and then youââ¬â¢re thrown into what you think Is a twisted. KC and cold world but Itââ¬â¢s actually Just life and you Just have to live It. In my head I tell myself Iââ¬â¢m still the same person I was a year ago but in all reality Iââ¬â¢m not. This situation caused me to become more sensitive and more protective of myself more than anything. Never did I realize that a person could cause so much Inner pain and there was no cure, no David or Misspoken can fix this boo boo, b ut too face the reality of it all, and over time hoping to get better. My approach is sterner in dealing with certain situations, I feel as if people take me serious that they will know Iââ¬â¢m not the type to mess around with and will not play games. I quickly closed my heart and right now thinking about forever with someone Is Just put on the backbencher for now. Trusting someone has never been so hard until now. You never know whatââ¬â¢s going through the other persons mind and there honest intentions with 1 OFF be more to myself and not trust anybody but God. I Just play the role, and Just make it seem as if Iââ¬â¢m okay but deep down inside Iââ¬â¢m hurting everyday and I always ask myself what did I do wrong to make him want to cheat? Does he really love me? Does he deserve this second chance? Itââ¬â¢s eating at me all the time and I Just want the truth but no one seems to know the answer. That to me is what is affecting me the most. That causes me to zone out, get distracted, cry at night, ignore and push away anybody who tries to get to know me. Iââ¬â¢m not sure how long will I be hurt or when I will find closure to my situation but it this has had the biggest impact on me this summer. The scariest thing about loyalty is that everyone has their own definition of it. When I thought of my boyfriend I thought he was the most loyal of them all. I thought he would be different from the rest and that he could prove to me that all guys were not the same. When he said he loved me I believed it, when he said he had my back I believed it, when he said he was loyal to me and only me I believed it but when all these emotions that I thought were so pure turned out to have flaws. I had begun to think maybe he was not lying and that he was exhibiting his own definition of love, compassion and loyalty or maybe he had been hurt before and his heart is guarded ND never realized instead of being the heartbroken became the heartbreak. Then I try to analyze the situation like I do all situations but still till this day I cannot come up to a conclusion as to whyâ⬠¦ He would do that and maybe I will never know the real reason or never will I know the whole truth but for now I have to face the reality of it and in hopes to move on and be able to love again someday. The reality of it all is that not everybody means what they say, everyone has their own definition of love and that forever does not exist in this love story. Service Marketing and Relationship Marketing Service Encounter
Question: Discuss about the Service Marketing and Relationship Marketing for Service Encounter. Answer: Discussion Service encounter encompasses the interaction between the organization and its customers. It measures the degree to which organizations are able to provide enough customer satisfaction through their service (Noone et al., 2012). Quay Restaurant is extremely popular through providing personal and rich experience to the customers. It is one of the best original cuisines, where purity of flavor, texture and balance is paramount. With an intension to provide genuine and personalized experience to the customers, the restaurant has divided the whole service process into front stage service and back stage service (Gazzoli et al., 2013). Each of front and back stage operation has unique functionality towards serving the customers in customized way. Service encounter in Quay Restaurant is measured through customers arrival at the restaurant to dispose the leftover and leave. The above flow chart suggests the front stage and back stage operation Quay Restaurant. I have realized that in front s tage operation, the restaurant has attractive external appearance, which gives its exact overview. The restaurant has their own customized website from where the customers can get its ideas (Ryu et al., 2012). After entering into the restaurant, the customers can see the menu printed on the wall and quickly select their own preferred menu. Apart from wall menu, the restaurant has also paper menus and takeaway items, which facilitates the customers to scrutinize the menu items. The restaurant provides memorable dining experience to the customers through diversified Australian ingredients cooked with passion and immigration (Kang Hyun, 2012). Knowledgeable, warm and professional staffs of the restaurant have extended the genuine hospitality in service. The restaurant has large display for various food items on offers so that the customers can identify those easily. The customers can avail separate counter for each of the food items, which is extremely comfortable to the customers. Apart from providing regular restaurant service, this organization also provides scope to book it for the occasion like wedding, birthday and others (Bradley et al., 2013). Self-serve counter with different sauces and cutlery and napkins provide extra benefit to the customers. Customers can also enjoy ambient candlelight dinner with soft jazz music, which is extremely entertaining to them (Sderlund, 2013). For the entertainment facility of the customers, the restaurant has TV set on its wall. After entering into the restaurant, the customers get warm welcome by the reception staffs and stand in the queue for placing order for their food. In the cash counter section, the staffs make smooth payment for the customer orders and handover the receipt to them. After receiving the receipt, the customers move towards the specific food counter and hand over the receipt to the staff. The staffs verify the receipt and provide food and drinks to the customers. I have also understood that in front stage operation, the restaurant has table with movable chairs. Customers can seat on their preferred chair after receiving the food items. Back stage operations of this restaurant do not necessarily have direct interaction with the customers. These kinds of service operation have indirect interaction with the customers but have major impact on the satisfaction level of the customers. Back stage employees are responsible for registration system of the restaurant in case of booking in occasion. Apart from that, I have noticed that back stage employees are responsible for preparing food for the customers in customizable manner. They need to prepare high quality and hygienic food for satisfying the customers (Lai et al., 2014). Furthermore, in order to keep the floor clean, the back stage employees take care of daily cleaning of the restaurant. Managerial implication is referred by utilization of practical information for making practical decision. It is denoted as the recommendation to be offered by the managers to keep the restaurant service up to customer satisfaction level. Furthermore, it also provides the mechanism to enhance the service quality of the restaurant. From my perspective, I can say that the manger of the restaurant should hire efficient web developer for designing attractive web page for the restaurant. Apart from that, the manager should also hire talented interior designers for making attractive eye-soothing interior design of the restaurant (Sharma Wu, 2015). Reception desk of any restaurant is very vital, as it creates first impression of the restaurant to the customers. In case of reception desk, the manager of Quay Restaurant should hire most talented and influential employee, who can interact with the customers effectively. They should provide warm welcome to the customers in personalized manner. From my point of view, the manager of the restaurant should effectively lead the staff to offer skillful and dedicative service to the customers. It is the responsibility of the manager to understand the unique needs of the customers and suggests the staffs to provide service accordingly (Kim Lee, 2012). Apart from that, the demands of the customers are changing day by day according to changing life style. Therefore, the manager of Quay Restaurant should train the staffs as per those changing needs to meet those needs of the customers. The manager should also ensure effective coordination among each department of the restaurant so that no service gap is arose. Effective restaurant manager also ensures proper planning for smooth operation of every department. The major managerial implication of the restaurant lies in handling customer complaints effectively (Kang Hyun, 2012). The manager should immediately resolve the customer complaints before it destroy the reputation of the custo mers. All the information concerning the customer service of the restaurant should be updated to the manager to ensure its smooth operation. Apart from that, the manager should sometimes visit the customer table to ensure that they are actually satisfied by the service. Conclusion While concluding study, it can be said that Quay Restaurant is highly popular for its customized and personalized service to the customers. The restaurant has divided its whole operation in to two stages namely front stage operation and back stage operation. Front stage operation of the restaurant has direct interaction with the customers. On the other hand, back stage operation has no direct relationship with customers but has major influence on customer satisfaction. In case of front stage operation, the staffs provide excellent welcome and memorable experience through effective customer service. On the other hand, in back stage operation of this restaurant, the staffs prepare food and keep the restaurant surface clean and hygienic to keep the customers satisfied. Furthermore, the managerial implication of the restaurant lies in keeping effective coordination among every department. References Bradley, G. L., Sparks, B.
